Kristen Osborn is an Austin-based director and theatremaker who is passionate about nurturing human connection through live storytelling. Kristen is an ensemble member at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble in Chicago where she curated and produced the inaugural Solo Voices Workshop, and was formerly the literary manager and casting associate at Northlight Theatre and associate director at the Ojai Playwrights Conference. Kristen was the curator and creative director for the interactive audio gallery Breadcrumbs (www.breadcrumbsproject.com,) director and co-creator of Hsiao-wei Chen’s interactive exploration of identity, Cafeteria Formosa, and will be continuing her exploration of food projects in the upcoming A Recipe for Action: Courses Against Hunger at UT Austin, a Rainwater Innovation Grant awarded collaboration with composer Collin Kemeny. Kristen is the founder and producing artistic director of JoyistLA and served as the assistant coordinating producer for In & Of Itself at the Geffen Playhouse and Daryl Roth Theatre, streamable on Hulu. Select directing credits: Meghan Brown's The Tasters (Texas Performing Arts Theatre & Dance Season,) Renae Simone Jarrett’s Community Garden (UT New Theatre Festival,) Sam Chanse’s The Opportunities of Extinction (North Central College,) Kristin Idaszak’s Tidy (developmental reading, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble,) Eugene O’Neill’s Fog (UCLA,) JoyistLA’s First Embrace (site specific, Los Angeles,) and an original adaptation of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, Lift (Montserrat, DTLA.) She is a graduate of UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television and an MFA Directing candidate at UT Austin.
