Ashleigh Love Taylor

Ashleigh Love Taylor is a University of Texas at Austin, B.F.A in Dance major, and B.S. in Kinesiology and Health, Applied Movement Science major. With this double major she is specializing in Medical Fitness and Rehabilitation and hopes to form a movement practice to prevent injury for dancers. Her cross disciplinary work has informed how she holds and aligns her body. She is currently training in ballet, GYROKINESIS®, and afro-contemporary with the help of Dorothy O’Shea Overbey, Erica Gionfriddo, Charles O. Anderson, and Gesel Mason. Her dance studies began at Academy of Dance Arts with Shannon Watters and Megan Buckland. There, she was training in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, and musical theater. In high school she joined a ukulele group with her dad where they performed at churches and senior retirement homes. As a current member of Dance Repertory Theatre at UT Austin, she has performed works by Leah Cox, Gesel Mason, Dorothy O’Shea Overbey, Jesse Zarrit, and rehearsed a work with Charles O. Anderson before COVID. Ashleigh is currently working as an events coordinator on the Cohen New Works Festival Executive Committee and is looking forward to uplifting the many talents we all carry as a team.
